Jamal Musiala was in sumptuous form as he scored and assisted Sadio Mane to end Bayern Munich’s ‘crisis’, but fans still weren’t happy.

The German giants ended a four-game winless league run, their longest in 20 years, by beating a Bayer Leverkusen side all over the place 4-0, despite signing Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Former England youth international turned Germany senior Musiala showed his insatiable class as he was involved in the first three, helping end a five-game scoreless run for Sadio Mane.

The attacking midfielder had a helping hand from opposition goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky for his goal that essentially ended the game after 17 minutes, but it was his world class dribbling that caught the eye managing two assists.

And he could have had a third if it wasn’t for a VAR review, but that doesn’t take away from a run where he took seven players out of the game just by shifting the ball from one foot to the other.

Bayern were in a ‘crisis’ according to the media, despite losing just one game this season, but with fans able to celebrate the end of a rare winless run, they made sure to let former general manager Uli Hoeness know their feelings towards him.

The 70-year-old World Cup winner has had a chequered past after serving 18 months for tax evasion from 2014 to 2016, and has angered supporters with his views on the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Honorary Bayern president Hoeness has been a regular proponent of the tournament despite Qatar’s various human rights abuses being condemned by the likes of Amnesty International, and reports that over 6000 migrant workers have died whilst building stadiums.

But ahead of the match against Leverkusen, the club legend further tarnished his reputation with supporters by phoning into Sport1 to argue with former Bundesliga president Andreas Rettig.

“The workers in Qatar are doing better, not worse, because of the World Cup. You should finally accept that and not keep hitting people,” Hoeness said to a shocked reaction.

Hoeness went on to call Rettig the ‘king of hypocrites’ for not complaining about the likes of Dubai and Kuwait, but it was pointed out that neither of those countries have hosted a World Cup.

The former West Germany international later hung up without saying goodbye, but the damage was already done for Bayern supporters.

Banners held up during the win over Leverkusen read: “State visits, training camp.

“Thousands dead for World Cup celebrations.

“The only thing doing better is your conscience, Uli!”
