A stunning tifo paying homage to Kylian Mbappe was unfurled on Sunday, after there were some boos heard earlier in the evening.

Mbappe is making his first appearance for Paris Saint-Germain since announcing he would be leaving the club in the summer with the French champions taking on Toulouse.

The French forward is viewed by some as the world’s best player with Thierry Henry labelling Mbappe PSG’s greatest player in their history.

He’s achieved so much in the French capital with a Champions League title the only major team honour to have eluded him in his seven years representing PSG.

However, he was given something of a mixed reception ahead of the Ligue 1 clash with boos and groans heard in the stands when his name was announced in the Parc des Princes team news.

But plenty of PSG fans later showed their appreciation for Mbappe with a tifo being unfurled for him in the stands.

A clearly impressed Mbappe took some time out of his pre-match warm-up to show his appreciation at the display.

Mbappe needed just eight minutes to make an impact against Toulouse as he opened the scoring but the away side hit back five minutes later through Thijs Dallinga.

The 25-year-old made the announcement on Friday that he was leaving PSG, with a free transfer to Real Madrid mooted – although the player didn’t confirm this.

In a statement on social media, Mbappe said: “I’ve always said that I would speak with you when the time comes I wanted to announce to you all that it’s my last year at Paris Saint-Germain.

“I will not extend (my contract) and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks. I will play my last game at Parc des Princes on Sunday.

“I have a lot of emotions. I had the chance and the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club, one of the best in the world, which allowed me to arrive here and have my first experience in a club with a lot of pressure.

“To grow as a player, of course, by being alongside some of the best (players) in history. Some of the greatest champions. To meet a lot of people and to grow as a man as well with all the glory and the mistakes I’ve made.”

No announcement on where Mbappe will be playing next has been made, however, French president Emmanuel Macron dropped a huge hint that the World Cup winner will be at the Bernabeu.

This comes after Macron called for Real Madrid to allow Mbappe to represent France at the Olympics in Paris this summer.

Addressing viewers’ questions in the clip, Macron said: “I am counting on Real Madrid to release Kylian for the Olympic games so that he can come and play with the French team.”

Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco on an initial loan move in the summer of 2017 before making his move permanent the following season.

At PSG he’s won 14 trophies, including six league titles. He also has a World Cup winners’ medal to boast.
