Eintracht Frankfurt are set to withdraw their contract extension for Evan Ndicka, allowing the defender to join Liverpool on a free transfer.

The Bundesliga side appear to have given up on new deals for key players Ndicka and Daichi Kamada, who are both set to depart for northing.

Sport1 in Germany claim Kamada is set to leave for nothing and join Borussia Dortmund, while Ndicka’s offer for an extension will also be withdrawn, according to BILD.

Ndicka, a 23-year-old centre back from France, will be a big loss for Frankfurt having helped them win the Europa League last season, while he has been ever-present for them this campaign.

That could be music to the ears of Jurgen Klopp, though, with the Reds strongly linked with the 6ft 3in defender.

Liverpool are set for a big summer rebuild after a season which will see them take home just the Community Shield.

Having gone the distance in all four competitions last season and claiming two trophies, the drop off has been stark this campaign with upgrades clearly needed in midfield amid links to Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.

Things haven’t exactly been great in defence either, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez coming in for criticism.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate has only featured in 14 out of a possible 40 games, with Joel Matip boasting just 18 outings to his name this term.

Klopp was asked about transfers before Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City on Saturday, where he revealed he’s positive about the club’s summer activity.

“It was good, on the player side I’m positive, I would say,” he said in reference to business during the international break.

“But it’s talks, not decisions. But we are busy, as you can imagine.”
