No Lionel Messi? No problem… At least while Luis Suarez is around!

Inter Miami had found themselves 1-0 behind against DC United on Saturday, with Jared Stroud putting the hosts ahead.

Leonardo Campana soon pulled his side level just 10 minutes later, though.

However, it was Suarez that grabbed the clash by the horns and drove his side to a 3-1 win on the road.

First, with just under 20 minutes left on the clock, the Barcelona legend found the net less than 10 minutes after coming off the bench as a substitute.

He then doubled his tally for the afternoon with five minutes to go, whilst things went from bad to worse for DC United as Pedro Santos was sent off as the game ticked into added time.

The victory was made all the more sweeter given they pulled it off despite being without their captain, Messi.

The Argentine has been dealing with a minor hamstring injury in his right leg and was rested for the Major League Soccer clash in Washington DC.

Messi is set to join Argentina for their friendlies against El Salvador and Costa Rica on March 22 and 26 respectively, but it is not yet clear whether he will be able to play in these matches.

He’d stunned fans just two days ago in the CONCACAF Cup clash against Nashville, scoring and registering an assist in the 3-1 victory that put the 5-3 up on aggregate.

Suarez also netted in that game too and now has six goals in seven games this season.

Meanwhile, Messi has five in as many games.

Inter Miami sit top of the league after taking 10 points from their opening five games despite Messi’s absence and a packed fixture schedule.
