Kate Abdo’s boyfriend Malik Scott joined the CBS Sports Golazo gang for dinner and they were all smiles despite awkward recent events.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher got himself into hot water when he made an inappropriate joke about presenter Abdo’s loyalty.
That joke understandably fell flat with fellow pundits Thierry Henry and Micah Richards even astonished by the remark.
Abdo dealt with the comments in expert fashion the following evening on the CBS Champions League coverage, comparing him to an annoying family member.
Boxing trainer Scott event threatened to get physical with the ‘obnoxious’ Carragher.
But it appears there is no hard feelings between them as everyone went to dinner together and the boxing trainer shared an image on his Instagram account.
He captioned it with: “Pre-Game meal with the best panel in sports.”
Scott, who is Deontay Wilder’s trainer, was in London for the Bronze Bomber’s fight announcement in the Matchroom vs Queensbury 5v5 tournament.
Abdo also opened up about the comments from Carragher in an interview with iFLTV.
She explained: “What Jamie said came from nowhere. It was just a quick line. It was meant to be funny, sometimes they hit, sometimes they don’t. That one went a little bit sideways. I felt a little bit hurt but it is what it is. You move on. We talked about it, we’re all good, nothing really to talk about.”
Clarifying the situation between Scott and Carragher, she added: “Malik does not want to fight Jamie. Malik and Jamie are cool.
“I understand why Malik said what he said but I think also if you read the full extent of what he said he was super respectful.
“He just said, you know, like anybody would say, if anything was said in the future that crossed the line, I’d want to have a conversation man to man. I think that’s a normal thing.”
“I think the headlines that [said] ‘I’ll turn up in physical fashion’ — that was a little overstated. But Malik is so secure as a person. Nothing rattles him.”
