Ahead of the 30th Premier League season, Betfair have conducted a survey with YouGov to find out who they deem is the best ever Premier League side.

Asking over 1,000 football fans for their thoughts, Betfair have counted the votes up to name the top ten best teams since 1992.

And it’s Manchester United’s 1998/99 treble winning team who have been rated as the greatest team of the Premier League era.

Securing the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup, the Red Devils are still the only side to have won all three of these competitions in one season.

United completed a 33-game unbeaten run in that campaign and also beat Nottingham Forest 8-1 – the club’s record away win in the Premier League.

Alex Ferguson’s side’s successes have clearly stuck in fans’ minds, as they’ve won 19 per cent of the vote.

Alex Ferguson’s side were closely followed by Arsenal’s Invincibles and Liverpool’s 2019/20 title winning team, who were joint-second.

The Gunners side from 2003/04 were never beaten in the league that campaign – something no other Premier League team has matched, with Preston North End doing it in 1889 before the league’s formation.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s side are remembered for winning the Reds’ first title in 30 years.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team that reached 100 points in 2017/18 trail behind in fourth.

Manchester United appeared again in fifth place, with their 2008/09 team winning their third successive Premier League title.

Leicester’s shock Premier League winning side from 2015/16 garnered the sixth-most number of votes after the underdogs beat all the favourites to be crowned champions for the first time.

Then, Manchester City’s 2018/19 side, Chelsea’s 2004/05 team, Blackburn’s 1994/95 icons and Chelsea’s 2016/17 squad filled the final four spots in that order.
