Gabby Agbonlahor believes Man City would eclipse both Manchester United and Arsenal’s legendary title winners, if they win the treble this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side booked their place in the FA Cup final with a 3-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday and now have the Premier League title race in their own hands after Arsenal’s draw 3-3 with Southampton on Friday.

Riyad Mahrez’s hattrick fired City into the FA Cup final

It came after City saw off Bayern Munich in midweek to set up a Champions League semi-final with holders Real Madrid.

Talk of a treble has intensified in recent days leaving the red side of Manchester sitting nervously as City look to emulate United’s success in 1999.

But Agbonlahor insists a treble win would make Guardiola’s team the best Premier League side ever.

“I think they would push the 2008 Manchester United with Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney. I think they would push them,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

“The football they’re playing, their passing.”

The former Aston Villa striker was then quizzed on whether they would eclipse both United’s Treble winners and Arsenal’s invincible’s side of 2004, if they claim all three trophies at their disposal.

Agbonlahor added: “If they win the Treble, I really do. The football we’re watching is different. Everyone knows their positions. The squad depth they have got as well.”

City have found a new gear in recent weeks and are unbeaten in all competitions since a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham on February 5.

That has left Guardiola’s side on the cusp of another Premier League crown.

And they have the opportunity to strike a bitter blow in Arsenal’s title ambitions when the pair go head to head at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, live on talkSPORT.

City will face either Brighton or Manchester United in next month’s FA Cup final and success over Real Madrid would see them face Inter Milan or AC Milan in the Champions League final.
