Paul Pogba is the latest Euro 2020 star to remove a branded drink from his press conference.

Cristiano Ronaldo hit the headlines this week when he removed two bottles of Coca-Cola from a table before speaking to the media.

The 36-year-old brandished a bottle of water and said ‘agua’, which is Portuguese for water.

Coca-Cola, one of the official sponsors of the tournament, replied on Tuesday with a statement that said ‘everyone is entitled to their drink preferences’ with different ‘tastes and needs’.

The move wiped $4billion off Coca-Cola’s share price, according to reports.

France star Pogba mirrored what the Portugal star did after his side beat Germany 1-0 in their opening group game.

Pogba, who is a devout Muslim, placed a bottle of alcohol-free Heineken under the table at his press conference as soon as he sat down.

The Manchester United star did not give an explanation as Ronaldo did, but it is likely because alcohol is forbidden in his religion.

Pogba was named man of the match after his brilliant performance on Tuesday night.

It was his delightful pass with the outside of his foot that stretched Germany’s defence as he found Hernandez with a ball over the top.

The full-back volleyed the ball back across goal and Hummels could only clumsily shin it past his own goalkeeper.

“The team performance is the most important thing,” said the midfielder. “Without them, I wouldn’t have played as well. We all put the effort in.

“We’re focused on our jobs on the pitch. We know we need to live up to our tag as world champions and come out on to the pitch with humility. When we need to suffer, we do it together and when we attack, we do it together.”
