Four assists in one match equals a record set only by seven other players.

Here, talkSPORT runs through which stars Pogba has now joined in the Premier League history books…

Dennis Bergkamp – Arsenal vs Leicester City 1999

The Dutch icon became the first player to register four assists during a Premier League game at the end of the last century.

Nicolas Anelka was the chief beneficiary of Bergkamp’s assists during a clash with Leicester as the Frenchman bagged a hat-trick in a 5-0 win.

Jose Antonio Reyes – Arsenal vs Middlesbrough 2006

The late great Spaniard became the next player to achieve the feat seven years later.

Reyes assumed the architect role of Arsenal’s 7-0 thrashing of Middlesbrough in 2006 as he registered four assists.

Cesc Fabregas  – Arsenal vs Blackburn Rovers 2009

The former Chelsea midfielder became the third player playing for the Gunners to register four assists during a Premier League game.

Fabregas both scored and created plenty more during a dominant 6-2 victory over Blackburn back in 2009.

The World Cup winner is also in second place behind Ryan Giggs for the record of most assists in Premier League history with 111.

Emmanuel Adebayor – Tottenham vs Newcastle 2012

The Togolese may have been best known for his time at north London rivals Arsenal but his record-equalling assists actually came for Spurs.

Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Newcastle in 2012 may be best remembered for Louis Saha’s double on his home debut.

However, Adebayor proved unplayable by laying on four goals – the first non-Gunner to do so – and lashing home a sublime volley himself.

Santi Cazorla – Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic 2013

The Gunners fan-favourite is the fourth and last of eight players to register four assists during a Premier League match.

Just a year after Adebayor’s standout showing against Newcastle, Santi Cazorla’s renowned playmaking ability was on show at home to Wigan.

The Gunners swept four past the Latics thanks to goals from Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott, and Aaron Ramsey – with the Spaniard assisting them all.

Dusan Tadic – Southampton vs Sunderland – 2014

The Saints have been on the end of two 9-0 demolitions in recent seasons but once upon a time they were the ones dishing out the punishment.

Southampton memorably dominated Sunderland 8-0 in 2014 – with the away side even scoring three absurd own-goals.

And Ajax star Tadic was at the centre of the pummelling, creating four to join the exclusive club while also bagging one for himself.

Harry Kane – Tottenham vs Southampton – 2020

The most recent entry to the list prior to Pogba’s opening day masterclass came from England captain Kane last year.

The 28-year-old has formed one of the Premier League’s all-time great partnerships with Son Heung-min during the last few seasons.

And the duo’s telepathic relationship was in full force during Spurs’ 5-2 win over Southampton in 2020 – with Kane scoring and then assisting all four of the South Korean’s strikes in almost identical fashion.
