Jason Cundy couldn’t hide his laughter as he listened to Jamie O’Hara rant about the state of Tottenham’s defending in the North London Derby.

O’Hara had to watch as his beloved Spurs went 3-0 down to Arsenal during the first half on Sunday, making it nearly impossible to get anything from the game.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side did manage to claw it back to 3-2, but it wasn’t enough to claim bragging rights in what was arguably their biggest game of the season.

Speaking on The Sports Bar, O’Hara said: “I don’t think it’s as bad as people make out. We were 3-0 down at half-time and it doesn’t look good, I get that.

“We could have had a penalty – [Dejan] Kulusevski was a stonewall penalty, I can’t wait to speak to Dermot [Gallagher] because the referees are absolutely hopeless in the Premier League. That is a penalty.”

The talkSPORT studio was then filled with the noise of a violin being played, with Cundy laughing and O’Hara saying: “Oh here we go.”

Urged to ‘keep going’ by Cundy, O’Hara continued: “We go 2-0 down, Ben Davies shouldn’t be playing left-back but he has to play left-back. He’s not good enough, we need to get rid of him.

“Show [Bukayo] Saka on his right. Show him away from goal. You show him in and he just pops one in the corner – you know what he’s going to do, you know he’s going to do that!

“Then the set-pieces, we’re like a pub team. We really are, a pub team. Ange has got to sort this out. He keeps going on about this free-flowing football but we’ve got to sort set pieces out. It’s an embarrassment!”

With Cundy holding his head in his hands with laughter, O’Hara continued: “Vicario, he may as well be in the net when he’s defending from a set piece. He doesn’t want to come out, Mr Flappy Hands.

“I like him when the ball is in play and he’s good with his feet but we’ve got to sort out the set pieces. Honestly, we’re a pub team.

“It’s not good enough, mate. It’s not good enough.

“We can sit here and say we played well in parts and played good football and it’s all been fun and exciting to watch, but you can’t be 3-0 down against Arsenal at home.

“It’s not good enough, you’ve got to be harder to beat. You’ve got to be more resilient. You can’t go out there and be 3-0 down against Arsenal at half-time. It ain’t good enough!

“Ange has got to sort it out. He’s got to be – stop laughing – he’s got to be harder to beat and adapt his game somehow. We can’t just be gung-ho football. We can’t just go and play and say ‘that’s who we are’. Come on mate.

“Arsenal are hard to beat, hard to break down and hard to score against and we need to learn from that because we can’t keep playing that way.”

A hysteric Cundy was basking in O’Hara’s misery – but the die-hard Chelsea fan was also gutted to see Tottenham lose.

The former defender revealed he was actually a Spurs fan for the day, in the hope that London rivals Arsenal do not win the title.

Cundy said: “I went through it for 90 minutes. For the first time ever in my life. Is that what it feels like?

“Is that what the last three decades have felt like? The disappointment. The frustration. You lot are garbage!”
