Riyad Mahrez was on hand to remind Nigel Pearson of his quality in Manchester City’s FA Cup trip to Bristol City.
The Algerian was reunited with his former Leicester boss at Ashton Gate for City’s fifth round tie against the Championship side.
Mahrez signed for the Foxes in 2014 when Pearson was at the helm, and emerged as a promising star under his management.
The latter, who now manages Bristol City, departed the following year before Leicester went on to win the Premier League title, a campaign in which Mahrez shined.
They met once again on Tuesday night, and it didn’t take long for the City star to make an impact as he assisted Phil Foden’s opening goal in the seventh minute.
He was later spotted shaking hands with Pearson on the touchline, with both of them all smiles in the south-west.
Mahrez made 51 appearances for the Foxes under his old boss, scoring seven times across all competitions.
He joined City in 2018 and has since taken his game to a new level, winning a further three Premier League titles at the club.

The Robins asked plenty of questions of the Premier League giants, but Pep Guardiola’s men ultimately had too much quality for them.
Their lead was doubled when Foden’s shot was turned in by Tomas Kalas before Kevin De Bruyne made it 3-0 with a classy curling strike from outside the box.
Victory has taken City to the FA Cup quarter-finals for the fifth season in a row.
Bristol City on the other hand are still yet to win a fifth round tie in the competition at home.
