Tottenham fans weren’t shy to rejoice in their former players Harry Kane and Eric Dier beating their bitter rivals Arsenal.

The former Spurs duo were part of the Bayern Munich side that beat the Gunners 1-0 in their Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Bayern’s victory ensured their progression to the semi-finals and sent Arsenal packing with a whimper amid a subdued performance.

After scoring 280 goals for Spurs, Kane moved to the German giants last summer and has maintained his incredible form since.

Dier followed suit a few months later on a loan deal until the end of the season, with both claiming a huge victory at Arsenal’s expense.

And Spurs fans on social media made sure to show their appreciation as one on X said: “Dier and Kane. Job well done.”

“Kane and Dier you’ve made us proud,” a second added amid their former players’ latest achievement on the big stage.

A gleeful third with smiling, clapping and laughing emojis also said: “Special agents Kane and Dier did the business.”

“KANE AND DIER, LEGENDS,” a delighted fourth added as Spurs fans revelled in Arsenal’s exit from the pinnacle of European football.

However, the Gunners’ defeat may not all be all its cracked up to be for their north London rivals amid the race for next season’s Champions League.

But Bayern’s win could make their quest for Champions League football more difficult

Spurs currently sit fifth in the Premier League, with clubs who finish in the top four qualifying for the showcase tournament.

The Bundesliga also has the same format, with both the English and German top flights potentially set for a fifth qualification spot.

With next season’s revamped Champions League having extra teams, UEFA’s coefficient rankings could allow a fifth place spot to either of the countries.

England were behind Germany ahead of kick-off on Wednesday night so an Arsenal win could have swung the race in the Premier League’s favour.

But Bayern’s win and progression to the semi-finals means it could be the Bundesliga who takes the spot as each win in Europe, no matter the competition, equals two coefficient points.

As of Wednesday morning, Italy sat top with 18.428 and Germany were second on 17.214 for this season, with England on 16.750.

However, the Premier League could receive another boost should West Ham beat Bayer Leverkusen in their Europa League quarter-finals second leg, live on talkSPORT.
