Tottenham Hotspur supporters should be very excited about ‘animal’ Cristian Romero as teammate Pierluigi Gollini heaps praise on the defender.

Both players are still adjusting to life in the Premier League since joining the Lilywhites from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window.

Gollini and Romero were summer buys from Spurs as they look to embark a new era under Nuno Espirito Santo

Expectations are high on the Argentine who is the second most expensive signing in Spurs’ history,

Romero helped Lionel Messi win the Copa America, his first international trophy, in the summer adding to his reputation.

He’s had a stop-start start to life in north London but Gollini believes ‘he’s a very clever and tough guy’ and will soon be up to speed.

“Obviously it’s not been easy because he didn’t have enough time to spend here because of spending time with the national team, and also he’s got a little problem with his knee, but he’s going to be good,” the Italian told Standard Sport.

“He’s learning the Premier League but he already knows the game. So he’ll be fine and very good.

“This guy is an animal, I swear. He’s perfect for the Premier League.

“He’s played for many years with three at the back and especially when you play with a very aggressive style and play man for man, it’s a completely different to thing to in a four.

“You have to work and defend more like a group, a group of four and defend more the zone and less the man. So he needs to adjust and he will do it because he’s a clever guy and an amazing player.

“He will, but obviously all these things need time. Everybody needs time to adapt, to adjust to a new culture and a new country.”

After suffering heavy back-to-back defeats against London rivals Crystal Palace and Chelsea, Spurs gave their boss Nuno Espirito Santo some much needed rest bite against Wolves.

It was a vital victory for the Portuguese manager and it will help the team be in high spirts ahead of the North London derby.
