Abuja Stadium, will not let my Boys Play Well - Keshi
« on: October 09, 2013, 05:13:47 PM »
Super Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi on Tuesday thumbed down the N96 million refurbished  Abuja National stadium turf , saying it will affect the team’s training towards Sunday’s Brazil 2014 playoff against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa due to its inferior texture.

According to the former Togo and Mali national team coach, the whole pitch is simply grass and pure sand.

“This is not good for our workout especially given the current weather...what you have here is just sand and grass. How do you expect my boys to be technically tuned up ahead of the task at hand?,’’ Keshi asked Tribunesport.

Meanwhile of all the invited players , the likes of Emmanuel Emenike, Shola Ameobi and Brown Ideye were yet to show up in camp. Yet Keshi  still expressed optimism that by Wednesday [today], he would have a full-house.

Putting this weekend’s cracker against Ethiopia in perspective, Keshi said:’’It is not going to be easy in Addis Ababa, because in Africa, unlike Nigeria, home teams can be hostile. So I am preparing the players mentally..even our own fans have to watch out.’’

He noted loudly..’’This is war without guns’’.
