Hollywood Actress of Kenyan origin, Lupita Nyong’o has been named as the Best Supporting Actress of the year at the 86th Academy awards.

The African pride got a standing ovation as she was announced the winner for her role in the Steve McQueen directed movie, 12 Years a Slave.

Responding to the win in her acceptance speech, an evidently overwhelmed Lupita said, ‘It doesn’t escape me for one minute that so much joy in my life comes from so much pain in someone else’s.’

‘When I look down at this golden statue may it remind me that every little child, no matter where you are from, your dreams are valid.’

She also thanked co-stars Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and the Director saying, ‘Thank you so much for putting me in this position. It has been the joy of my life.’ http://thenet.ng/2014/03/lupita-nyongo-wins-best-supporting-actress-at-the-oscars/
