Akwa Ibom Stadium Opens, Jonathan Lauches, Eagles Win ...Yaaay!!!

President Goodluck Jonathan has declared the 30,000 capacity Akwa Ibom Stadium open. The President was accompanied to the event by Presidents John Mahama and Alassane Ouattara of Ghana and the Ivory Coast respectively. The Super Eagles then launched the stadium with a 1-0 friendly victory over Ghana’s Black Stars, the lone goal scored in the first half by Emem Eduok, who is from Akwa Ibom state.

onathan said he was delighted to lay the foundation stone of the project and inaugurated it on completion. He said the inauguration was a source of pride for the state and the nation.

“We are very happy to join you in the celebration of this great achievement; Akwa Ibom is a great state. What we have seen today has shown hard work, great vision and amazing transformation,” Jonathan said during the opening ceremony. “This is a reminder that leadership of PDP is paying attention to the aspiration of the electorate of this great country and this great state.”
