Army smash robbery gang comprising members of serving policemen in Edo

Men of the Nigerian Army, operating from the 4 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation, codenamed Operation Pulo Shield, on Thursday announced it smashed of an armed robbery gang, comprising members of serving policemen.

Briefing journalists on behalf of the commander at the Brigade headquarters, Army Public Relations Officer, Capt. Roselyn Managbe, said the Army would crush economic saboteurs,  saying it was determined to stamp out criminal activities within its area of jurisdiction – Edo, Delta and parts of Ondo.

Parading some of the suspected criminals, including those arrested for illegal bunkering, Managbe said troops from 3 Battalion arrested a suspected kidnap kingpin, Joel Ogbu, a.k.a Avenue, which in turn led to the arrest of other members of a kidnap ring.

One of the suspects, Nanagha Aduoumen, 60, who said he enlisted in the police in 1982, confessed to being part of an all-police robbery gang that had been terrorising residents in parts of Delta State and environs.

Managbe said some of the suspects admitted to being part of larger syndicates.

She said, “The Commander 4 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation Pulo Shield, Brigadier-General Pat Akem, has once again reiterated his determination to crush economic saboteurs and other criminals from his area of responsibility. This declaration has yielded success with the arrest of some suspected criminals.”
