How my wife moved in with her boss – husband

A 35-year-old cobbler, Mr Oluwatobi Odebode, Thursday,  told  an Iyana-Ipaja Customary Court in Lagos that his wife, Titilayo, vacated their matrimonial home to live with her boss.


Oluwatobi, who was the respondent in a divorce suit, said that he returned home from work on Dec. 24, 2012, to discover that his wife had moved out of their home.

“My wife is promiscuous; when I heard that she was dating her boss, I queried her but she denied it. But now, she has moved into his house,” he said.

The respondent, whose wife had filed for divorce, alleging battery and irresponsibility, admitted to beating Titilayo, but said that it only happened occasionally when she did wrong.

“I used to beat her but not regularly; just to make her turn a new leaf, which she never did,” he said.
The respondent described his estranged wife as a liar.

According to him, Titilayo, 32, who is a trader, had been going about to tell people that her family had returned the N10,000 dowry he paid on her, which was not true.

The cobbler said that his sister-in-law had denied him access to his two-year-old son, who was living with her.

“Anytime I go to her house to check on the welfare of my son, she will not allow me to see him.

“On one occasion, she beat me up and warned me not to come to her house again,” he said.

The petitioner had urged the court to dissolve her two-year-old marriage, alleging battery and maltreatment.
“Oluwatobi turned me into a punching bag. I had to pack out from his house because I didn’t want him to kill me before my time,” she said.

Titilayo said that her husband lacked respect for her parents and claimed that the respondent on one occasion visited her parents’ home to beat up her mother for allegedly insulting him.

The petitioner also accused her husband of irresponsibility adding that she had been the one paying the child’s school fees.
 
She told the court that she was no longer in love with Oluwatobi and urged the court to dissolve the marriage and give her custody of their two-year-old child.

The Court President, Mrs Salewa Banjoko, adjourned the case to July 23 for further hearing.
