With Barcelona failing to respond to United's offer, however, the Premier League champions are now prepared to increase their bid in order to underline their determination to make Fabregas the first major signing of the Moyes era.

Manchester United plan to submit an increased pounds 30 million offer for Cesc Fabregas in a bid to accelerate efforts to sign the midfielder amid concerns that managerial upheaval at Barcelona could jeopardise their move for the former Arsenal captain.

United manager David Moyes, whose squad is due to fly from Sydney to Tokyo this afternoon for the next leg of the club's pre-season tour, confirmed earlier this week that a formal offer, in the region of pounds 26 million, had been lodged for Fabregas.

With Barcelona failing to respond to United's offer, however, the Premier League champions are now prepared to increase their bid in order to underline their determination to make Fabregas the first major signing of the Moyes era.

United had been confident of enticing the 26-year-old Fabregas back to the Premier League, two years after his transfer from Arsenal to Barcelona. Fabregas remains the No?1 priority for Moyes, but the unforeseen circumstances of Vilanova's deteriorating health have led to uncertainty over the outcome of United's move for the player. http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/1863687/report-manchester-united-plan-new-move-for-cesc-fabregas-david-moyes-ready-to-increase-his-offer-to-pounds-30-million

Barcelona have told Manchester United that Cesc Fabregas is not for sale.

United confirmed on Monday that they had submitted an improved bid - understood to be £30m plus add-ons for the midfielder - but reports in Spain  claim that has been turned down.

"Fabregas is not for sale," a Barcelona source said on Monday. "The president (Sandro Rosell) has been very clear with Man United."

Old Trafford boss David Moyes earlier said he may be forced to admit defeat.

Manchester United have not given up on their efforts to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

United have failed with two bids for the former Arsenal player, the latest of which is understood to be £30m plus add-ons.

But David Moyes has confirmed he is still targeting the 26-year-old as his first capture since taking over as manager at Old Trafford.

He told a news conference in Osaka that "things are ongoing".
