Belgium may be one of the bookies’ favourites to win Euro 2020 – but they’ve got plenty of problems on their plate.

It’s been well documented that the Red Devils’ current crop of players are viewed as their ‘Golden Generation’, and Jose Mourinho boldly claimed this is their last chance to win a tournament.

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has been tipped to win the Golden Boot this summer having scored 24 times in Serie A for Inter in 2020/21

However, their preparation for this summer’s finals have not been ideal with star player Kevin De Bruyne sustaining a nasty injury during the Champions League final.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez insists De Bruyne is very much on the road to recovery having responded well to surgery last weekend, but it’s been confirmed he will miss their opening match. It’s not clear whether he’ll be available for their Group B clashes against Denmark and Finland.

Meanwhile, there are concerns about the fitness of Real Madrid star Eden Hazard, who admitted in a recent interview that he’s not 100 per cent fit hearing into the tournament.

And talkSPORT’s Andy Brassell also pointed to their ‘ageing defence’ which could thus prove to be a problem as Euro 2020 wears on.

It looks much better than it did on May 29 but will De Bruyne’s injury heal sufficiently for him to have an impact at Euro 2020?[/caption]

Hazard, meanwhile, has been dogged by injuries ever since he joined Real Madrid two years ago[/caption]

“I have doubts about their ageing defence,” Brassell told talkSPORT. “The wing-backs I have doubts about – Thomas Meunier on the right has had a not great season at Borussia Dortmund.

“With Eden Hazard it was interesting him being interviewed on Belgian television, clearly he’s not been fit for the best part of two seasons, there’s been a real dispute between Real Madrid and Belgium on how is the best way to deal with his injury and they’ve not really come to any conclusion over it.

“He seemed very tentative about what role he’s going to play at the tournament. He said he wasn’t 100 per cent.

“You have to wonder what they can get out of him. If you can’t get 90 minutes out of him, can they get 70? Can they get 30?”
