Mohamed Salah scored his 20th Premier League goal of the season but then hobbled off the pitch with a suspected injury as Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0.

The contest at the Amex Stadium saw Jurgen Klopp’s extend their winning run to eight in the Premier League as they closed the gap on title rivals Manchester City to three points.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring for the Reds after heading in from close range.

He was extremely brave as Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez came flying out of his goal, and caught the attacker in an action that was labelled by Rio Ferdinand as something that ‘belongs in WWE’.

Thankfully, the Colombian was able to continue and play the rest of the match.

Brighton, whilst second best for large parts of the match, were made to rue a massive opportunity missed in the opening exchanges of the second half when Leandro Trossard sent the ball into row Z when he was unmarked in the Liverpool penalty area.

That was as good as it got for the hosts though who have now succumbed to their fifth straight defeat in the league.

For the Reds, though, its a fine afternoon and they will hope that Salah’s injury is nothing serious.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Chelsea defender Scott Minto believes Klopp made the right call by bringing him off immediately, especially with a quick turnaround for their clash against Arsenal on Wednesday.

“Salah’s gone down, looks like a little tweak in his knee,” said the pundit.

“Absolutely no need to risk him when you’ve got Jota on the bench.”

Whilst Liverpool will be desperate to make sure that Salah is fit for their trip to the Emirates, they will be delighted to see the impact Diaz had again.

For the majority of the match, the Colombian was too hot to handle for the Seagulls.

In addition to scoring, his numbers were very impressive with Squawka stating that he created two chances, won three fouls and produced nine touches in the opposition penalty area.

Given that he is still adjusting to life in England, Diaz is showing signs that he could prove to be yet another brilliant signing for Liverpool.

For now though the Reds will be hoping Crystal Palace do them a favour on Monday night when they take on Man City.
