Tottenham Hotspur stars ‘don’t enjoy’ Nuno Espirito Santo’s training regime, and haven’t warmed to his character, talkSPORT have been told.

The Spurs boss is on the ropes in north London after just 17 matches in charge, winning just eight of them.

A dreadful showing in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United was the last straw for many fans.

Supporters booed his decision to substitute Lucas Moura in the loss, and their tedious build-up play also provoked ire.

In the end, Spurs didn’t have a single shot on target despite having the lion’s share of possession in another poor performance which lacked creativity.

Former Premier League star, and Tottenham fan, Darren Ambrose was shocked by the display and, in particular, that of Harry Kane.

Taking Lucas off was disappointing for Spurs fans who love his effort levels

He told Darren Bent’s Bootroom: “It was an absolute shambles. It was just embarrassing. I mean, I looked at the stats against West Ham and the stats against Manchester United and they offered absolutely zero.

“No one looked interested. In fact, Lucas Moura looked interested but he got dragged, so I do not know what’s happening.

“And Harry Kane, what is going on with him at the moment? I mean, we’ve all said it, and I think Tottenham should have cashed in at the time, they should have taken the money and rebuilt the squad.

“I look at Harry Kane, I was watching him closely and he’s dropping so deep. Cristian Romero was more of an attacking threat than Harry Kane yesterday and he’s a central defender.

“Does it show that he doesn’t like what the manager is doing and just playing his own game?”

talkSPORT reporter Crook added: “I don’t believe he’s the only one.

“From what I’m told the players don’t particularly enjoy Nuno’s training regime, they don’t particularly warm to him as a person.

“He was following Jose Mourinho and we know Jose Mourinho had a big ego. From what I’m told, Nuno can probably fit into that bracket as well, and their performances have been dreadful as well. Even in the games they have won this season they have not been convincing.

“They’re in the relegation places in terms of chance creation, expected goals, shots on goal.

“You’re correct to highlight Harry Kane because we were on air last Sunday and we were very critical of Paul Pogba and his lack of effort and his attitude when he came on. If you’re going to make those criticisms of Paul Pogba you have to make them about the England captain as well because he looks disinterested.

“He was desperate to go to Manchester City and he carries the look of someone who would rather be anywhere but north London at this moment in time.”

He continued: “Maybe Daniel Levy might realise in January that it’s best for all concerned if they just cash in.

“They probably won’t get the money they may have got in the summer but use that money to reinvest in the team because it’s a terrible team. You take Kane and [Heung-Min] Son out of it, and maybe Lucas Moura, and they are a bottom-half team.”

Crook though doesn’t believe sacking is the panacea for Spurs.

He added: “I don’t think you can wave a magic wand if you’re Daniel Levy. I don’t think removing Nuno will necessarily have a massive uplifting effect, because he wasn’t the first-choice anyway, he wasn’t the sporting director’s choice.

“They wanted Conte. I think they still want Antonio Conte but I’d be surprised if that happens.”
