West Ham star Ben Johnson confirmed that the celebration for his goal scored against Aston Villa was a tribute to a hilarious viral video of him as a schoolboy.

Johnson gave the Hammers the lead at Villa Park as he cut inside before curling into the corner of the net with his left peg.

Johnson put West Ham ahead on seven minutes
And it led to some amusing celebrations from the West Ham players

It was a fine finish from the 21-year-old defender but his celebration was more memorable as he recreated a dance he did with Mundian To Bach Ke by Panjabi MC playing in the background.

After the match, Johnson said: “I was about 14 then. The lads were battering me about it this morning!

“Cressy [Aaron Cresswell] said I had to do it if I scored so I had to, it’s an amazing feeling.”

14-year-old Johnson couldn’t have possibly foreseen doing this in a Premier League match

It was a party atmosphere at the end of the match for the visitors as West Ham raced to a 4-1 win, with Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen getting the other goals.

The result is a continuation of West Ham’s splendid start to the season as they tighten their grip on fourth spot.

They came sixth in the table last term, an overachievement in the eyes of many. But David Moyes recently said he wants an even better finish this term – something the players believe they can manage too.

On Moyes’ comments, Rice said: “We massively buy into it.

Rice helped West Ham to the win with a effort from long range on 38 minutes

“There was a big question at the start of the season on whether we could do it again, especially with the squad rotation, could we be used to playing in Europe and the Premier League?

“I think we’ve found out that we can.

“But we’re only ten games in, there are still a fair few left and we have to stay at it. This is the standard and we can’t drop.

“If we want to be a big club you need to maintain those standards and stay up the top of the table.”
