Harry Kane cemented his place as a Tottenham legend after becoming the club’s all-time top scorer with 267 goals.

The England skipper surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ 53-year record after grabbing the winner in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.

In doing so, he also racked up his 200th Premier League goal, with only Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney scoring more.

It is the first time since November 2017 that a current Premier League club has had a new all-time top scorer.

That was when Sergio Aguero surpassed Eric Brook’s tally of 177 goals to go top of the Citizens’ charts.

Interestingly, five of the ‘Big Six’ clubs have had their goalscoring record broken in the 21st century.

While eight records have stood since before the start of World War Two in 1939 – with one still intact from 1903.

Here, talkSPORT runs you through every club’s leading and current top scorer – and how long they have held the record.

Arsenal – Thierry Henry – 228 – October 2005

The Frenchman scored 226 goals in his first spell in north London between 1999-2007 before he left for Barcelona.

Henry returned to the Emirates for a short loan spell from MLS outfit New York Red Bulls in 2012 where he scored twice.

He scored on his second debut with a winner against Leeds in the FA Cup, before volleying home a dramatic goal at the death against Sunderland in his farewell match.

The Gunners‘ current top scorer Eddie Nketiah has some way to go if he wishes to catch Henry having banged in 32 goals from 119 matches – with nine of those strikes coming this term.

Aston Villa – Billy Walker – 244 – November 1932

The 18-cap England international spent his whole career at Villa Park where he scored 244 goals in 531 matches.

He helped the Midlands outfit win the FA Cup in 1920 where he found the back of the five times from his six outings in what was his first season with the club.

Versatile full-back Ashley Young leads Villa’s scoring charts from the current crop, with 38 of his 39 goals coming in his first spell.

Voted as Brentford’s greatest ever player, Towers was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2015.

And Ivan Toney, who has 61 goals to his name, could follow him after he spearheaded the west London side to the Premier League in 2021 in what his first campaign.

Now a fully-fledged Premier League striker, Toney has 25 top-flight goals to his name.

Brighton – Tommy Cook – 123 – December 1924

Cook, who also enjoyed a lengthy career as a cricketer for Surrey, was capped once for England in 1925.

Along with scoring 123 goals for the Seagulls from 1921-1929, he amassed over 20,000 runs for Surrey from 460 matches, while he also served in both world wars.

Surprisingly, skipper Lewis Dunk is Brighton’s current top scorer in the squad, with the centre-back, who came through the academy, boasting 26 goals from 397 outings.

Chelsea – Frank Lampard – 211 – May 2013

The recently axed-Everton boss was a prolific goal-scoring midfielder for the Blues during his 13-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

From 2003/04-2012/13, Lampard finished the season with double figures – earning him a place in the PFA Team of the Year on three occasions.

His protege Mason Mount, who he coached at Chelsea and Derby, is their highest present-day scorer with 33 goals.

Crystal Palace – Peter Simpson – 165 – January 1931

The Eagles icon averaged almost a goal a game during his six-year stay at Selhurst Park from 1929-1935.

Simpson fired in a whopping 46 goals in the 1930/31 season in what remains a club record.

Unsurprisingly, Wilfried Zaha is Palace’s current top scorer with 89 goals with the Ivorian winger tenth in their all-time charts.

Everton – Dixie Dean – 383 – April 1928

He won two league titles with the Toffees along with two Charity Shields and the FA Cup in 1933 where he scored in the 3-0 final victory over City.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin still has some way to go in catching Dean having scored 59 goals from 203 matches for the Merseyside outfit.

Fulham – Gordon Davies – 178 – February 1989

The 67-year-old enjoyed two spells at Craven Cottage – first from 1978-1984 before he moved to Chelsea and then to Manchester City.

Davies returned to Fulham in 1986 where he remained for a further five years, with the Cottagers granting him a testimonial at the end of his second spell.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is hunting down Davies’ record as he already has 107 goals for Fulham in what is his sixth season with the club.

Leeds – Peter Lorimer – 238 – March 1973

Lorimer, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 74, scored 238 goals from his two spells at Elland Road.

He helped the Whites win two league titles, one FA Cup and League Cup, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, while also being a key member of the squad that lost to Bayern Munich in the 1975 European Cup final.

No current Leeds player has scored more Patrick Bamford, who has 48 goals to his name despite his numerous injuries in recent years.

Leicester – Arthur Chandler – 273 – January 1926

Incredibly, none of Chandler’s 273 goals from his 419 matches come from the penalty spot.

He has still scored over 100 more times than Jamie Vardy [168], who is third in Leicester’s all-time charts.

The 36-year-old is currently enduring his worst season for the Foxes in front of goal having scored just once in the league from 21 games.

Liverpool – Ian Rush – 346 – October 1992

One of the best goal scorers in top-flight history, Rush enjoyed two spells at Anfield either side of a solitary season in Italy at Juventus.

He won five league titles with the Reds, along with three FA Cups, five League Cups and two European Cups.

His time in Merseyside came to an end in 1996, with the Welshman retiring in 2000 at the age of 38.

Mohamed Salah has scored half of Rush’s amount [173] since joining from Roma in 2017, with the Egyptian seventh in the club’s all-time charts with Robbie Fowler [183] and Steven Gerrard [186] in his sights.

One of the Premier League’s most clinical strikers, the Argentine star spent a decade at the Etihad after joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

The 2021 Copa America champion was voted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2022.

Kevin De Bruyne is the Citizens’ top scorer from the current squad with 89 strikes, though just three have come this season.

Manchester United – Wayne Rooney – 253 – January 2017

The DC United boss surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s 44-year record six years ago when he whipped in a glorious free-kick away at Stoke.

Rooney returned to Everton at the end of the 2016/17 season after 559 games for the Red Devils where he won 16 major honours.

United academy graduate Rashford is currently on 112 goals and is enjoying a stunning season since the World Cup break.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in his last seven Premier League outings.

Rashford still has some way to go if he wants to beat Rooney’s goalscoring record[/caption]

Newcastle – Alan Shearer – 206 – March 2006

The boyhood Magpies fan joined the Toon from Blackburn in a then-British record £15m in 1996.

Despite failing to claim any silverware at St James’ Park, he banged in 206 goals from 405 matches.

His stunning form at both Blackburn and Newcastle has seen him top the all-time Premier League scoring charts with 260 goals.

And while that record is under threat from Kane, his Newcastle feat is unlikely to be matched anytime soon with Callum Wilson [27] the closest to it from the current squad.

Nottingham Forest – Grenville Morris – 217 – January 1903

Morris’ 120-year record has stood for longer than any other Premier League side after he scored 217 times between 1898-1913.

He played in 459 games for the Reds, while he also found the back of the net nine times in 21 outings for Wales’ national team,.

His compatriot Brennan Johnson is Forest’s top scorer from Steve Cooper’s side with 26 strikes.

Tottenham – Harry Kane – 267 – February 2023

Academy graduate Kane broke Greaves’ long-standing record to write his place in history.

Kane established himself as a regular in the starting XI in the 2014/15 season after loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester.

There are still questions marks as to whether his long-term future lies at Spurs with the 29-year-old tied down at the club until 2024.

He helped his side reach the FA Cup final in 1923 where Bolton emerged victorious after winning 2-0.

His closest challenger from David Moyes’ side is Michail Antonio who has 67 goals since arriving from Forest in 2015.

Antonio is the club’s all-time top Premier League scorer with 58 strikes.

Bull was then instrumental in Wolves claiming the third division championship the following year where he scored 102 goals across the two seasons.

Mexico international Raul Jimenez is the club’s highest active scorer with 57 goals in 158 games.

Though the 31-year-old is yet to open his account in the Premier League this campaign.
